Lacrosse and the LumberJax

I had never been to a professional Lacrosse game until today. Sure, I remember seeing some of my classmates run up and down a field, when I was in high school. But, I did not even think people played Lacrosse outside of school. So, when I heard that the Young Professionals Group (YPOP) http://www.youngprofessionalsofportland.com/yp/index.asp?f=home.asp was sponsoring a Lacrosse related event, I was intrigued. Scott and I joined YPOP members at the Rose Arena to watch the home Lacrosse team, the Portland LumberJax http://www.portlandjax.com/. We went to the Rose room for a pre-game cheese and professional talk. Then we took our seats by the goal.

While the ball flew between one stick and another, I turned to my program to read the rules. I wanted to figure out what was going on in the game. The program had some helpful tips on what the referees were doing and some of the basics. Scott was entranced with the game. The LumberJax won.

I wanted to know more about Lacrosse. So, I went on the internet for some information. I found the website for the US Lacrosse: National Governing Body... http://www.uslacrosse.org/index.phtml The site describes the history of Lacrosse, how to get training in the sport, the rules of the game, and a contact roster of local chapters. This site even describes a Lacrosse hall of fame in MD. Want to know when and where the Lacrosse championship will occur? This site will tell you (for men's, May, in MD. I can see myself coming back to the US Lacrosse: National Governing Body... http://www.uslacrosse.org/index.phtml site to get up to speed before the next game.

I never saw myself going to a Lacrosse game until today, at the YPOP event. I can see Scott and I going to another game, this season.
